Slytherclaw’s Current Reads

It’s the end of another week and time for more of what we’re currently reading! We both love reading multiple books at a time, so settle in for our list of what we’re currently reading.

I’m still working my way through the audiobook of Say You’ll Remember Me by Katie McGarry. I’m currently about two thirds of the way through it and enjoying it just as much as I enjoyed the physical book when I read it earlier this year.

I read Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight in 2017 and enjoyed them both, but never continued on with the series after that. I finally decided to give the series another try this year and I’m so glad I did because I am absolutely hooked. I started the series again in June and have been obsessed since then.

I’m about two thirds of the way through this book as well. This one took me a bit longer to get into than the other books in this series, but a little before the halfway point I got really into and can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen in the last part of the book.

I hadn’t originally planned to start my reread of this book until after I finished Tower of Dawn, but I left my book in the car last night and needed something to read that wasn’t my audiobook.

I really enjoy everything about this book. It features some amazing diversity, but also has an amazing storyline that keeps me hooked. It also features substance abuse and talk of suicide. This story does an amazing job at portraying grief and the main characters struggle with an addiction and not only how it affects her, but everyone around her. This is a story that I think everyone should read because not only is it amazing, but it deals with such important topics.

Tower of Dawn (Throne of Glass, #6)Tower of Dawn

I got Tower of Dawn as a Christmas present last year, and devoured it. I’m currently rereading it in preparation for Kingdom of Ash coming out later this month!

No matter what anyone says, Tower of Dawn is a MUST READ before Kingdom of Ash! Without it, you’ll miss out on vital information on characters and events that will end up making a huge impact on the final outcome of KOA! I can’t wait for the release of KOA, but I’m sure that I’ll be content with Chaol, Nesryn, Yrene, and Sartaq until then!

HeartlessHeartless

I received Heartless in an Owlcrate box over a year ago….and still haven’t read it. I’m really bad about reading box that I’ve bought once I’ve purchased them. However, I knew when I saw the Reading Rivalry criteria “villain/antihero POV” that this book would be perfect!

Heartless is a retelling of Alice in Wonderland told from the Red Queen’s perspective. Basically it’s about how she became the way she is. I’m listening to the audiobook, and I’m currently about two hours into the story. So far I love it! The narrator is also fantastic, and really keeps you engaged with the story line!

Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha, #1)Children of Blood and Bone

I’ve been hearing amazing things about Children of Blood and Bone fora long while now! I finally purchased it about a month and a half ago, after seeing it on a shelf labeled “President Obama Recommends” Now, I don’t know about you, but if President Obama read and enjoyed a YA novel so much that he recommended it, and Barnes and Noble advertises it that way, I knew I had to read it. Hands down, no brainer. Luckily, this book was randomly picked for me to read this month, and I am so excited!

I’m only a couple chapters into the book, so I don’t know much about it, but I am so excited to read about a strong woman of color as she fights to save magic for her land. Count me in on this book!
