It’s that time of the week for another look at we’re currently reading! Both of us are reading multiple books that we’re really enjoying and can’t wait to talk about.
The Geography of Lost Things
The Geography of Lost Things has been my contemporary read over the last few days. I’m about 40% into it so far, but so far I’m really enjoying it.
Ali has come into possession of her late father’s 1968 Firebird and doesn’t plan on keeping it. She finds a buyer for it, but that person is almost six hours away and the car is a standard. Ali can’t drive a stick shift, but her ex-boyfriend can. This premise starts off the story and their awkward adventure together.
I’m to the point where Nico is convincing Ali that she doesn’t need to sell the Firebird and that they can trade up to make the money she needs to save her childhood home. It’s cute and the type of story I expect from a contemporary story.
Stalking Jack the Ripper
I started this on a whim last night when I didn’t want to read the contemporary and I wanted a little break from Song of the Dead to process my thoughts on the story and write down those thoughts.
I read the first nine chapters so far and I’m pretty sure I’ve already figured out who Jack the Ripper is so I’m excited to finish it to see if I guessed right. Another thing really keeping me hooked into this story is the banter between Audrey Rose and Thomas. It’s amazing and one of my favorite things about the story so far.
Song of the Dead
Song of the Dead is one of my most anticipated books for 2019 so I’m super excited that I was able to receive an advanced reader copy of it and that I have the chance to read it.
Song of the Dead picks up almost immediately after the end of Reign of the Fallen. Since it picks right after the end of the first book, I’m not going to say more about the story.
I’m about halfway through the story and it’s just as amazing as I thought it would be and I can’t wait to finish it.
City of Ghosts
I didn’t intend to be reading a fourth book today, but I started listening to this in the car on the way to the store and got absolutely hooked on the story. I’m a little over halfway done with the audiobook already and it’s amazing. It’s very atmospheric and completely drew me in from the very beginning.
Children of Blood and Bone
I’m still reading this one from last week! I’m buddy-reading it so it’s taking me a little longer than normal to get through this one! It’s roping me in really well though!
I’m currently a little over halfway through and I’ll probably finish it before the weekend is up (I’m impatient to finish, it’s just that good!). The storyline is progressing really nicely so far and all of the characters are really interesting! I can tell this is going to be one of my favorite reads from this year!
Lair of Dreams
I just started this as an audiobook and so far…Wow!! Lair of Dreams is the sequel to The Diviners by Libba Bray. It’s set in 1920’s New York and features several characters who have developed paranormal gifts.
So far we’ve had a lot of my favorite characters from the first book return and I can’t wait to see how all of this shapes up with a new villain for them to conquer! Hopefully Evie and her friends are up to the challenge!
