Slytherin TBR – January 2019

51278379_981419952067095_7558693715661815808_nIt’s 2019 and time for my first TBR for this year! I can’t wait to get reading for 2019! I have so many books I hope to get to this year and this month is just the beginning for all of them. This month also marks the start of all the challenges I’m participating in.

One of the challenges I set for myself in 2019 was to read the lowest rated books that I physically own. For this I decided to sort the 36 books that were the lowest rated into 3 categories based on their position on the list of them and put each book title on a piece of colored paper. Based on the list in the previous post about this challenge, books 1 through 12 are on pink, books 13 through 24 are on green, and books 25 through 36 are on blue. Each month, I will choose one of each of the three colors and those will be the three books that I’ll read from the list for the month.

This month, the three books I picked out are:

  • Catching Stars by Cayla Keenan
  • Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse
  • Just Friends by Tiffany Pitcock

I’m also helping and participating in another month of Reading Rivalry. This month’s theme is Sailor Moon! I’m on Team Sailor Jupiter this month and can’t wait for this month’s game to begin. The criteria this month is very unique and I had a fun, but challenging time fitting books into it!

  1. Author Highlight (John Green, Nora Roberts, Meg Cabot)
  2. Takes place on another planet
  3. Book With the Colors of Your Sailor Scout
  4. A Book You Meant to Read In 2018
  5. A Book With a Societal Crisis (epidemic, natural disaster, zombie outbreak, end of the world, etc.)
  6. A Book Featuring a Milestone Life Event
  7. Book That Makes You Nostalgic
  8. A Book From an Author You Want to Meet
  9. Book That You Think Will Leave a Mark
  10. Book Without People on the Cover

The game for TBR and Beyond this month is the same as last month. I’m going to be continuing on with the rolls I made in December. Even though I had a slow reading month, I ended up completing almost all of my rolls. The ones with a heart next to it are the ones I completed in January. I will be choosing new books for reread and green for this month.

  • Fantasy – An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
  • Free Space – Sanity & Tallulah by Molly Brooks
  • Reread –
  • Cozy – The Boy Next Door by Katie Van Ark
  • LBGTQ+ – Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston
  • Free Space – Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo
  • Holiday – The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand
  • 2018 Book – Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott
  • New to You Author – Onyx & Ivory by Mindee Arnett
  • Green –
  • Family – The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

Keeping all my challenges and games in mind, I came up with a TBR that fits everything and also has me reading the books one of my friends picked for me to read this month.

  • The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
  • Everless by Sara Holland
  • The Diviners by Libba Bray
  • Avalon High by Meg Cabot
  • Ogre Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
  • Catching Stars by Cayla Keenan
  • Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse
  • Just Friends by Tiffany Pitcock
  • Illumina trilogy by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
  • Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff
  • Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody

I also have a list of ARCs I hope to read (or reread in the case of one) this month. Those include:

  • Just for Clicks by Kara McDowell
  • Only a Breath Apart by Katie McGarry
  • A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
  • Crazy Cupid Love by Amanda Heger
  • Dark of the West by Joanna Hathaway
  • The Deceivers by Kristen Simmons
  • Comics Will Break Your Heart by Faith Erin Hicks

What’s on your TBR for January?
