Slytherin Down the TBR Hole- January 2019

51435168_808941549439279_2615821128362360832_nIt’s my first Down the TBR and I’m so very nervous. I started my Goodreads account in August 2016 and currently have 286 books on my Want to Read list. Some of those are upcoming releases, but a lot of those are books I added when I first made my account and was just adding books. For this reason, I’ve decided to go through five to ten books each month and decide if I want to keep them on my Want to Read list or delete them from it.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story as a way to get your TBR down to a more manageable number. If you see any books I should keep, definitely let me know! It helps out a bunch because I’m kind of indecisive with this type of thing.

How it works:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

Since my Want to Read shelf is on the larger size and I only plan to do it once a month, I’m going to be going with 10 each month.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

This is a continuation of the Shadowhunter chronicles and the start of a new series within the universe. It’s one of the few Shadowhunter books I’ve yet to read, but I definitely have plans to in 2019.

Final decision: Keep!

Firstlife by Gena Showalter

Firstlife is the first in a series by Gena Showalter. It’s been on my Want to Read list since I created my Goodreads account. In that time, I’ve had the book and haven’t tried to read it once and have actually unhauled it already.

Final decision: Remove!

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I’ve had this book on my list since I started watching booktube videos and heard about it. I even own the paperback edition of it and have tried to read it at least three times at this point. I can’t get past the first 50 to 100 pages. It bores me so much and at this point in time, I can’t find the appeal in it and have no interest in this book or the series.

Final decision: Remove!

Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst

Of Fire and Stars is on my list of lowest rated books I own that I plan to get to in 2019. For that reason, it’s staying on my Want to Read list.

Final decision: Keep!

The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare

This is another of the few Cassandra Clare books I’ve yet to read. Novellas typically aren’t for me, but I’m still going to keep this one on my list because I do own it and I enjoy the world that the books are set in.

Final decision: Keep!

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

As for similar reasons as Lady Midnight and The Bane Chronicles, I have no interest in removing any Cassandra Clare books from my TBR at this time. I have every intention of reading The Dark Artifices series in 2019.

Final decision: Keep!

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare

Same as all the previous Cassandra Clare books! Queen of Air and Darkness is staying on my Want to Read list until I get around to reading it.

Final decision: Keep!

The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzie Lee

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue is one of the few historical fictions that I’m completely obsessed with. With that in mind, I assume I’m going to love Lady’s Guide just as much and actually meant to read it in 2018, but didn’t get it to. Hope to in 2019!

Final decision: Keep!

Peter Darling by Austin Chant

I can’t remember exactly where I heard about this story, but I know it’s one that definitely intrigued me. I actually meant to read it in 2018 as well, but didn’t get to it because of other books I had to read. It’s a short story so I hope to get to it sometime in 2019.

Final decision: Keep!

Angelfall by Susan Ee

This is one that I came across while shopping at Half Price Books in late 2017. Since then, I’ve never purchased it or looked into it more. The synopsis doesn’t interest me that much anymore and if it does become one that I feel I want to read, I know it’s available on Kindle Unlimited.

Final decision: Remove!

Final Thoughts: Even though I had hope to get rid of one or two more books, I am happy with removing the three books that I did from my Want to Read list. If you think I should keep any of the ones I removed, let me know!
