Slytherin Down the TBR Hole – February 2019

51435168_808941549439279_2615821128362360832_n.jpgIn January, I did my first Down the TBR Hole post. At that time I had 286 books on my Want to Read list, which includes all upcoming releases I’m interested in. I ended up deciding to remove three of the ten off my want to read list as they no longer interest me or I’ve tried to read them in the past and don’t see myself trying them again.

Each month, I’ll be looking at ten books on my Want to Read shelf and deciding if I want to keep them on there or remove them.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story as a way to get your TBR down to a more manageable number. If you see any books I should keep, definitely let me know! It helps out a bunch because I’m kind of indecisive with this type of thing.

How it works:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

Ash Princess is the start of a trilogy by Laura Sebastian. I currently do not own this book, but I have almost bought it several times and I know several people who have really enjoyed it. I do hope to read it at some point.

Final Decision: Keep!

Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer

Spindle Fire is actually on my list of lowest rated books I physically own and is one that a friend of mine really loves. I have some high hopes for this one!

Final Decision: Keep!

Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

This one is a tough one for me. I do own this book, but I’v had it for quite awhile at this point and haven’t even picked it up once. I also believe there was a midseries cover change for this series, which really bums me out because I love the cover of the one I have. I might remove this one next year if I don’t read it this year.

Final Decision: Keep!

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

Truthwitch is another book that is hyped up to me a lot by a friend. I own a copy, but like Rebel of the Sands, I’ve owned it for awhile and haven’t picked it up and I know there are several books in the series now. I think it’s still one I want to try to get to eventually though.

Final Decision: Keep!

Love, Hate, & Other Filters by Samira Ahmed

I’ve had this one on my Want to Read list for quite awhile and it’s been out for over a year now. I’ve walked by this book while shopping countless times and haven’t even thought of picking it up. For those reasons, I think I’m going to remove it even though it is one that I was excited for in 2018.

Final Decision: Remove!

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman

I can vividly remember adding this to my Want to Read list after watching a booksandlala video. It sounded interesting and I enjoy contemporary so I added it to my list. Even keeping that all in mind, I’ve never picked it up and I’ve never even requested it from my library.

Final Decision: Remove!

Access Restricted by Gregory Scott Katsoulis

Access Granted is the sequel to All Rights Reserved. I read All Rights Reserved in late 2017 and only gave it 3/5 stars. While it was interesting, parts felt rushed and some things in the story bothered me quite a bit. I also could never really connect with the main character. I borrowed that book from the library, but never looked into Access Granted when it was published last year.

Final Decision: Remove!

Diplomatic Immunity by Brodi Ashton

Diplomatic Immunity is another book on my lowest rated books I physically own and is on my TBR list for this month. I’ll be getting to this one very soon!

Final Decision: Keep and reading soon!

This Adventure Ends by Emma Mills

At the very beginning of 2018, I read Foolish Hearts and fell in love with it. I then read First & Then and also really enjoyed it. I still have hopes to get to this one very soon.

Final Decision: Keep!

Wicked Beginnings by L.A. Cotton

I’m honestly not sure where this book even came from. I’m assuming from signing up for a Goodreads giveaway, but after reading through the synopsis, I’m not overly interested in it so I think it has to go.

Final Decision: Remove!

This month, I decided to remove four books from my TBR list. I’m very happy with this! Are there any you think I should rethink my decision on?
