Slytherin Down the TBR Hole – March 2019

51435168_808941549439279_2615821128362360832_n.jpgIn January, I did my first Down the TBR Hole post. At that time I had 286 books on my Want to Read list, which includes all upcoming releases I’m interested in. I continued with it in February and again this month.

Each month, I’ll be looking at ten books on my Want to Read shelf and deciding if I want to keep them on there or remove them.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story as a way to get your TBR down to a more manageable number. If you see any books I should keep, definitely let me know! It helps out a bunch because I’m kind of indecisive with this type of thing.

How it works:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Wicked King by Holly Black

The Wicked King is one of my most anticipated books for 2019. It’s the second book in The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black. I’m very much looking forward to reading this, but also so scared to do so.

Final Decision: Keep!

Son of the Dawn by Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan

I had planned on reading these novellas as they came out, but then learned they would eventually be published physically with a couple extra novellas. I now plan to wait for the bind up to be published to read all the novellas at one time.

Final Decision: Remove!

Atlas Fallen by Jessica Pierce

I’m trying to read more sci-fi and this one sounds very interesting. I also love the simplicity of the cover, so I plan to keep this one.

Final Decision: Keep!

The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green

I was very interested in The Smoke Thieves when I first heard about it. As time went on, my interest has declined and I even picked it up a couple times while book shopping and the first few pages have never grabbed me the way I would like it to.

Final Decision: Remove!

Smoke in the Sun by Renee Ahdieh

This one is so hard for me! I adored Flame in the Mist and even had Smoke in the Sun preordered as soon as I was able to do so. Then the cover was revealed and it was so different than that of Flame in the Mist. The original cover for Flame in the Mist is my absolute favorite and it really bummed me out when the cover for the sequel was such a drastic change and the matching cover for Flame in the Mist would be in paperback only. Right now, I don’t plan to read it so I ultimately think I’m going to remove it for now.

Final Decision: Remove!

Seafire by Natalie C. Parker

This is a book I received in a Unicorn Crate. Like a lot of my Unicorn Crate books, I’m super excited for them, but haven’t gotten to yet. I definitely need to set aside a month at some point and prioritize books I’ve received in this subscription box.

Final Decision: Keep!

Beyond a Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake

I don’t actually own this book yet, but it’s one I definitely want to give a shot to!

Final Decision: Keep!

Furyborn by Claire Legrand

Just like Seafire, Furyborn is another I received in Unicorn Crate. This one intimidates me probably the most of the ones I’ve received in this subscription box.

Final Decision: Keep!

Kiss of the Royal by Lindsey Duga

Kiss of the Royal is one I own, but before reading through the synopsis to decide, I couldn’t tell you what it was about. It does intrigue me though so I think I’ll keep it for now and access later if I still haven’t read it.

Final Decision: Keep!

The Exact Opposite of Okay by Laura Steven

I’m very excited for this book! I bought this late last year from Book Depository just to have the amazing UK cover!

Final Decision: Keep!

This month, I decided to remove two books from my TBR list. Not my best, but the ones I kept are ones I still want to read and hope to get to this year.

Are there any you think I should rethink my decision on?
