Ravenclaw Tag – This or That

Hi everyone! I really wanted to do a good booktag, but I feel like so many of them ask the same questions, so I was really excited when I found this one! It’s a lot different than any of the others I’ve done so far! This one originated over at Tea and Paperbacks so go check it out!

Reading On The Couch or in Bed?

For me, it’s definitely on the couch. I tend to get uncomfortable really easily while reading for long periods of time, and on my bed I can’t ever seem to find a good spot to settle in at. Reading on the couch is the perfect environment.

Male or Female Main Character?

This one is tough – I think it depends on who the author is. I generally don’t like female main characters when they’ve been written by male authors. But that being said, I tend to gravitate more towards storylines that feature female characters – they’re more relatable to me!

Sweet or Salty Snacks While Reading?

Salty! I don’t like a ton of sweet snacks, and the ones I do like are usually really messy, so I don’t like eating them while I read. So I usually go to something like chips, popcorn, or goldfish crackers.

Trilogies or Quartets?

Triologies! I don’t like it when a series drags out too long. I end up getting super worked up over the characters and storylines. So I like a nice, epic trilogy like ACOTAR.

First or Third Person POV?

I prefer first person, generally. I like being in the head of the main character! I also think that it’s a lot harder to write a good book in first person and not have it sound whiney, or juvenile. So because of that, I think that a good test of an author is to see how well they can write in first person!

Reading at Night or In the Morning?

Night! I’m a night owl for sure! I’m usually up until 2 or 3 in the morning reading on my tablet! I listen to audiobooks in the car on the way to school sometimes, but other than that, I don’t have the time to read in the mornings before I have to adult.

Libraries or Bookstores?

I really love bookstores. Don’t get me wrong, I love libraries and free books. However, I’m REALLY bad at returning them on time. I like to wander around bookstores and figure out which books I want to read next, even if I don’t buy anything.

Books that Make You Laugh, or Books That Make You Cry?

Don’t make me pick! I love a good comedy, but I also tend to give higher rankings to tear jerkers…so both!

Black or White Book Covers?

Black! Literally if you give me a choice of black or white anything, I’ll generally gravitate toward the darker color (my absolute favorite is gray though). I love how sleek and clean a nice black color is!

Character-Driven or Plot-Driven Stories?

I like a good combo of both – I don’t want the plot to be well-developed, but not overly obnoxious. But I tend to judge a book on how nice, relatable, and empathetic the characters are.

What about you? What are your reading preferences?
