Ravenclaw – Totally Should’ve Book Tag

I wasn’t tagged to do this book tag, but while searching for different ones, I thought this one sounded interesting and fun. I found this tag at Adventures of a Bookish Girl, and it’s created by Emmmabooks.

Stephanie – Warcross by Marie Lu

I really LOVED the first novel, and I was super excited for the second novel, but it was really disappointing. I felt like it was full of really unnecessary twists and turns. I think I would have much rather had it wrapped into one book and cut out some of the weird elements present in the second novel.

Stephanie – Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

I would really like to see this series continue on following some of the other characters that are mentioned in the novel. I’d really like especially to follow Sartaq and Nesryn as they go back across the ocean to Sartaq’s kingdom. I personally would rather have this than to have an ACOTAR spin off.

Stephanie – A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas (*spoiler alert*)

I really hate to say it, but I was not a fan of how this series ended. I think that Sarah doesn’t know how to make a good sacrifice. As much as I hated when Amren and Rhys sacrificed themselves, narratively it made sense. When we got Rhys back I was so grateful and amazed, however, we should never have gotten Amren back. I think that the ending would have been so much stronger if we had had a substantial sacrifice where one of our beloved characters died. The fact that there was this massive war and the only person who died (and stayed dead) that we *somewhat* cared about was Feyre’s dad? It doesn’t make sense.

Stephanie – Caraval- Stephanie Garber

I would absolutely love for this series to get a film or TV show (preferably on a streaming service, since those are the only places I trust to adapt things now). I think that the characters and magic that are in the show would be so great to see played out in a show or film!

Stephanie – Alligient -Veronica Roth (*spoiler alert*)

The fact that this book had a split POV between Tris and Four immediately alerted me to the fact that Tris wasn’t going to survive the book. While I both liked and hated that Tris dies in the end (I hated that she sacrificed herself for her brother, but I really appreciated that Veronica Roth didn’t allow a contrived ending just to save her MC in a totally implausible way), I felt that as soon as Four had his first POV chapter, I knew immediately that Tris would die and I was waiting for it the whole time. I think that this would have been done much better had it stayed in Tris’ POV until her death, and then switched to Four’s perspective to finish out the book.

Stephanie – The Scorpio Races – Maggie Stiefvater

I really do not like this cover. It it is really boring to me, and doesn’t compel me to read the book at all. I ended up reading it anyway because it fit criteria (I still wasn’t really a fan), but this cover certainly didn’t help my opinion of it.

Stephanie – The Scorpio Races – Maggie Stiefvater

Wow, twice in a row. Like I said above, I did read this book even with the terrible cover, but I was NOT a fan. I’m not usually a big fan of books about horses or racing or sports of any kind really. Pair that with the fact that these characters just weren’t super compelling to me….and we have a match made in hell. While I’m sure others who do not share my opinions of sporting books would very much enjoy this novel, it’s just REALLY not for me.

Stephanie – The Diviners by Libba Bray

I really like the original cover and the newest cover. However, there was an awkward middle version that just…sucks. Unfortunately, that is the cover that I own (it was before I knew better). But it just doesn’t match the spirit or content of the book at all. The newest one is wonderful, but I don’t think that anything beats the original art cover!

Stephanie – Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

I definitely went into this one thinking it was going to be terrible. And it WASNT! I personally would rank this one in the top 2 of my favorite installments in this series! I thought I was going to hate it. I wasn’t a fan of Chaol, I hated the cover, I wasn’t really feeling this entire novel that “didn’t have anything to do with the main storyline” etc. I was so dreading reading this book and I put it off for over a year! It was so good, so relevant to the storyline, had AMAZING characters, and redeemed someone that I thought was lost to bitterness.

Since I wasn’t tagged to do this challenge, so I’m not challenging anyone else, but if you’re like me and you read this tag and like it, consider yourself challenged!

Happy Reading!
